Service type: Mentoring programmes
The Nacro SWITCH project provides comprehensive packages of support to vulnerable women aged 16 and older who face a range of health, social, financial, educational or housing needs, to enable them to regain positive control of their lives.
We work with them to build confidence, self-esteem and to address issues such as social isolation, domestic violence and drug and alcohol abuse, and support them to get into education, training or work. We have a team of outreach workers dedicated to delivering one-to-one work, group work, training and wellbeing workshops. The project also has a very successful mentoring programme, pairing trained volunteers with vulnerable women within our communities.
Female volunteers We are looking for inspirational female volunteers aged 18+ to provide our service users with advice and support. If you would you like to support our team, please get in touch.
Mentors Could you be a mentor to our service users, giving them the advice and support they need to build a more positive future? To find out more, click here.
“SWITCH has worked with us to engage and support vulnerable women in our temporary accommodation services. By bringing a range of free activities to our service, SWITCH has made them accessible to women who would otherwise not have accessed them. The sessions have offered opportunities for our tenants to enjoy learning new skills, socialise, feel less isolated and build their self-esteem and self-confidence. This is an important stepping stone to participants being able to take the next step and join the community based activities and develop friendships and support networks for the future. The most disadvantaged in our communities would lose a valuable service without SWITCH.”
