Supporting women

We understand the importance of dedicated services responding to the needs and experiences of women.

The women we work with have often experienced abuse, homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse issues and poverty. Some have faced significant trauma.

Our staff work holistically with the women we support to understand where they want their lives to go and to help them get there.

Our services

We have several services that work with women in different ways.

Supported housing

Our Community Accommodation Service – CAS-2 service in England and Wales provides supported accommodation for people who would otherwise be held in prison or would be released homeless. As part of this service, we offer women-only accommodation. Person-centred support plans are developed with the women considering their unique needs, for example, experiences of domestic abuse, sexual violence, sex work, contraception, family and relationships.

Longden House is a women-only service in Manchester providing safe, welcoming and supportive accommodation for women who may have multiple or complex needs, and who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or need additional support to build and maintain their independence.

You can find a full list of our services through our Service Finder.

Substance misuse

Our Recovery Near You service in Wolverhampton provides dedicated substance misuse services for women. This includes the Women’s Empowerment programme that encourages women to find their voice and helps them build confidence and resilience. The six-week programme includes modules on mental health, budgeting and health eating, and mindfulness and wellbeing.

Education and support

Our Greater Manchester Outdoor Learning service provides women, girls, and non-binary people with the opportunity to get outdoors, build practical skills, and connect with others in their community. The programmes focus on those who may face barriers to getting outdoors.

My CAS-2 support worker always makes herself available for me. This has been very important to me due to my mental health issues and PTSD. If it wasn’t for her support, I may have acted in a way that would’ve resulted in my recall. It’s nice to know there’s someone who cares about me. CAS-2 has provided me with the practical and emotional support I needed to start to put my life back together.
