Nacro was commissioned by Commonweal Housing to identifies the current challenges prison leavers face accessing stable housing and suitable support and the effect this has on reoffending.
The young people’s views in this report were drawn from an online survey and a series of focus groups that were conducted across Nacro Education centres and our young people’s supported housing services. We received over 240 survey responses from young people aged 14-21, which contained questions across a broad range of areas, including life satisfaction, aspirations for the future, and their views on crime and politics. This report aims to increase knowledge in this area to enable policy makers and service deliverers to better identify and meet the needs of this group, with the intention of reducing the likelihood of ex-service personnel entering the CJS or reoffending.
