Nacro’s top tips for GCSE results day 2019

Published:

As students across the country prepare to receive their GCSE results this week, Lisa Capper, Nacro Principal (pictured above) advises students how they can prepare to make the best of results day.
GCSE results day can be a scary time but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you receive the grades you hope for or not, there is a course, apprenticeship, training or work experience placement out there that is right for you. Keep in mind these simple top tips as you approach GCSE results day so that you can make the best decision for you, once you know your grades.

  1. Do your best to keep calm and acknowledge all your hard work to get this far. You should be proud of what you have achieved.
  2. Think again about what you want to do next. Is it a course or do you want to gain work experience or develop a specific skill?
  3. What happens if you don’t get the grades you hoped for? Do not worry. Whatever your results, you can take steps towards a bright future. It is important to take action now.
  4. Find the right person to talk to about your next move – it could be a parent/carer, teacher at your school or staff at a further education provider. Talking things through will help you to decide what the best option is for you.

At our Nacro education centres, we can help you explore all your options from the moment you receive your grades on results day. We are committed to helping all young people succeed and we know that one size does not fit all. This is why Nacro staff do all that they can to provide tailored support to meet every student’s individual needs. This includes offering GCSE re-sits and Functional Skills in Maths and English as part of our Study Programmes. Our Nacro education centres can help you focus on either becoming work-ready through extensive work placements and employability skills development, or skills-ready through high quality level 1 and 2 vocational courses, leading to further training or an apprenticeship.

Call the phone number below of the education centre of interest to find out how we can help you to take your next steps and achieve your goals. Always remember that nothing can stop you from getting where you want to be. You have what it takes to succeed.
