What we offer

Nacro is a national education charity and England’s largest independent training provider to 16–18 year olds. Just like a college, we offer nationally recognised qualifications, including GCSEs and BTECs, which help you towards further learning, an apprenticeship or employment. Unlike a college, you can start anytime throughout the year.

At Nacro Sandwell, we build strong, supportive relationships to help you feel safe, motivated and valued. We offer:

  • Places for local young people to achieve qualifications
  • Professional, experienced and dedicated staff
  • Small class sizes
  • Face-to-face learning, feedback and support for every learner
  • Financial support and resources to attend courses
  • Tailored programmes based on individual needs

I've enjoyed my GCSE maths course at Nacro. The tutor makes it fun. I always struggled with maths at school but I understand it better now.

If you’re aged 16+ you can choose to complete a work placement in an area you’re interested in.

Our successes

Nacro Sandwell has consistently high success rates: over the last academic year, our overall achievement rate was 85%.

Nacro promotes a caring and aspirational culture that helps learners to make good progress, achieve well and take positive next steps in their education and employment. Qualification achievement rates are very strong, 8 out of 10 qualifications were achieved in 2018/19, and substantially higher than sector averages.

Our partnerships

We make sure that all our learners have the chance to access a work placement, through our relationships with a variety of charities and other businesses. We’ve worked with Asda, Co-op, B&M, Barnados, Matalan and many others. This way, local employers get to enrich their workforce at the same time as our learners get invaluable work experience, for the long-term benefit of the community around us.

Nationally, over 95% of Nacro students have taken part in work experience. Combined with a reference from the employer and their qualifications, this makes our learners job-ready. We have partnerships with 160 employers across a broad range of sectors and recently were selected as a model of best practice by the Learning and Work Institute for our engagement work.
