Helen Dyson, Interim Chief Executive at Nacro, said:
“One million young people out of education, training of work is a troubling milestone. That’s one million young people failed and unable to thrive.
“We have to focus on prevention. We want to see the pupil premium extended to all disadvantaged 16-19 year olds, and a relentless focus on reducing the disadvantage gap and addressing why far too many young people fall through the cracks. This includes tackling the crisis in special educational needs provision and tackling child poverty.
“Young people are the future our country we must invest in them now.”
