Campbell Robb reflects on his first week as Nacro CEO

Well that went quickly… Yet already I feel right at home and could not have felt more welcome.
So they eased me in gently! An all-day leadership team meeting, a council meeting, a budget update and 20-odd meetings.Β Honestly – I have loved every minute of it, getting a feel of the services we provide, the challenges we and our service users face and, most of all, the potential that our organisation has to make even more of a difference to more people, and to fix the broken system that makes it so much worse.

At heart I am a campaigner, and my drive and passion is to work for organisations that support and help people day to day, taking what they learn to make people’s lives better. I joined Nacro because I can see how much there is to do and how well placed Nacro is to make that happen. We clearly have challenges ahead, with uncertainty in the political world, in the probation service and in the funding of education – but what I already can see and feel is the positive focus on making a difference, of not accepting what we see is happening and looking for solutions.

Some very early thoughts – we need to give ourselves and our service users a stronger voice and focus even more on what we achieve and our outcomes. Lots to do, can’t wait to get on with it.
