Beauty Level 2 (Bolton)

At Nacro Education Bolton, you can learn your way, at your own pace. Our Level 2 VTCT Beauty course is designed to help you develop confidence, communication, and essential employability skills needed to succeed in the beauty industry.

You will build a strong foundation in both practical beauty therapy skills and professional behaviours, including client care, teamwork, time management, and working to industry standards.

The course focuses on developing your skills through hands-on practical sessions in a salon-like environment, where you will complete a range of treatments such as skincare, nail services, and basic beauty techniques. You will also gain experience in consultation, hygiene practices, and customer service, helping you understand real workplace expectations.

Alongside practical learning, you will complete assignments and assessments/ exam(s) that support your knowledge of health and safety, beauty techniques, and the professional standards required in the sector.

Throughout the course, you will be supported to grow in confidence, independence, and readiness for employment or further study in beauty therapy.

The course offers an opportunity for young people to raise their aspirations, improve confidence and motivation, whilst learning skills that are relevant to further study, employment and personal development.

Our delivery style focuses on understanding, nurturing, and open discussion, supported by a wide range of practical beauty therapy activities to bring learning to life and reflect real salon environments.

We recognise that everyone learns differently, so sessions are carefully paced and not rushed. This gives you the time to carry out treatments, build confidence, and develop your skills to industry standard, while also allowing space to reflect, process, and fully engage with both practical and theoretical aspects of the course.

You will be supported to grow in confidence, communication, and professionalism, ensuring you are well prepared for progression within beauty education or employment in the sector.

This course is ideal if:

• You need a starting point to build confidence and independence before progressing into the beauty industry or further training. This programme supports the development of key personal, social, and communication skills essential for client-based roles.
• You want to develop practical and transferable skills that will prepare you for progression into Level 3 Beauty Therapy, employment in salons, or a new career pathway within the beauty sector.
• You have an EHCP and would benefit from additional support, with structured guidance to help you succeed in both the practical and theoretical aspects of beauty therapy.
• You want to combine vocational learning with personal and social development, allowing you to explore beauty-related career options while building the confidence and professionalism needed for employment in the industry.

Our course allows you to combine your learning with work experience to develop your independence and confidence.

• Client Care and communication in Beauty Related industries.
• Follow Health and Safety practice in the salon.
• Provide facial skincare.
• Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments.
• Apply make up.
• Provide eyelash lifting.
• Apply skin tanning techniques.

You will be required to complete a range of written assignments, undertake exam(s) and build portfolios. You will also be required to demonstrate some skills whilst being observed by your tutor. You’ll be supported with all your work and your teacher will go through all this when you sign up for the course.

You will do at least two weeks of work experience to support your studies, gain experience and potentially develop contacts with future employers. Our team will help you secure a work placement and will provide you with everything required for you to attend your placement.

There are a variety of enrichment opportunities on offer throughout the year, including trips and external visits. You will work towards a variety of certificates: Student of the week and 100% attendance for example are just a couple.

You will complete a work experience diary for all your experience that you accomplish. For example: Awareness and charity events, local community work or events, or working voluntarily in a salon.

After successfully completing this course, you will have the advanced knowledge and skills to take your next step whether that’s progressing to a higher-level qualification, exploring employment opportunities, or developing greater independence. You will gain a certificate in Beauty Level 2.

What pathways will be opened up as a result?

• Progression onto a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification, allowing you to develop more advanced technical skills and specialise further.
