Nacro’s South Yorkshire prison leaver preparation service gains ‘Outstanding’ rating
Nacro’s Through the Gate service in South Yorkshire prisons, part of South Yorkshire Community Rehabilitation Company (CRC), has been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating.
Through the Gate services support people as they prepare to leave prison. Our team work in prisons, including HMP Doncaster, HMP Moorlands, HMP Hatfield, and HMP Lindholme, as well as in the community. Our team support those leaving prison with housing, finance, benefits and debt.
HM Inspectorate of Probation report praised our service, stating: ‘We were delighted to find an impressive picture, with a well-coordinated, personalised service offered to support individuals’.
South Yorkshire CRC – which is owned by Sodexo Justice Services – supervises 3,600 low and medium-risk offenders. Some are preparing to leave or have left prison, while others are serving community sentences. The CRC’s new rating builds on improvements across the board and the overall service is noted as ‘much improved’.
