Welcoming Enver Solomon as Nacro’s new Chief Executive

Published:

We’re delighted to today welcome Enver Solomon OBE as Nacro’s new Chief Executive.

Enver joins us with a long-standing commitment to social justice. Throughout his career, he has championed the rights of people facing disadvantage, inequality, or exclusion – values that sit at the heart of Nacro’s work.

He brings significant experience from across the charity sector, including most recently as CEO of the Refugee Council. Prior to this, he held a variety of leadership positions in the criminal justice sector: Prison Reform Trust, Centre for Crime and Justice Studies, as well as in organisations working with marginalised young people: Barnardo’s, The Children’s Society, National Children’s Bureau and Just for Kids Law. Enver’s leadership skills were recognised when Charity Times named him Charity CEO of the Year in 2023.

Enver Solomon said of his appointment:

I’m delighted to be leading such a brilliant organisation - one I’ve admired for many years. Nacro puts people’s futures at the heart of everything it does, no matter their past or circumstances, and it campaigns with real courage to change the systems that hold people back. Over the coming weeks and months, I’m looking forward to deepening my understanding of our work and the communities we serve. I’ll be meeting as many staff, partners and people we support as possible to hear directly about Nacro’s impact, and to start shaping our next chapter of changing lives.”
Enver Solomon, Chief Executive of Nacro

Nick Hardwick, Chair of the Board of Trustees:

Nick Hardwick, Chair of the Board of Trustees, welcomes Enver and extends heartfelt thanks to Helen Dyson, Nacro’s Director of Support and Advice Services, for her leadership in the interim period

“It’s a great time for him to be joining Nacro as we celebrate our 60th anniversary and are ready to build on the strong foundations we have in place. Since his appointment, Enver has been awarded an OBE in the 2026 New Year’s honours list and we are proud to have someone held in such high regard leading us.

I would also like to give my very sincere thanks to Helen Dyson for the confident, steady leadership she has provided to the Executive Leadership Team and the organisation in the interim period. I and the Board are truly grateful to her.”

This year marks Nacro’s 60th anniversary, and we’ll soon be sharing stories from across our community that show the difference our work has made – and continues to make – every day.

It’s an important moment for Nacro, and we’re delighted to have Enver guiding the organisation as we build on six decades of helping people create better futures.
