Nacro, in partnership with Clinks, is a member of the VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance (HW Alliance). As members of the HW Alliance, Nacro and Clinks promoted the health and care needs of people in contact with the justice system and their families and identify strategies to improve their health and wellbeing.
The HW Alliance exists to be a bridge between the voluntary sector, the health and care system and the people who use it. It aims to ensure high quality services which improve health and wellbeing, to respond fairly and effectively to all communities and to make sure everyone has a say. It will amplify the voice of the voluntary sector and people with lived experience to inform national policy, facilitate integrated working between the voluntary and statutory sectors, and co-produce solutions to promote equality and reduce health inequalities.
The aim of the HW Alliance is to:
- Facilitate integrated working between the voluntary and statutory sectors
- Support a two way flow of information between communities, the VCSE sector and policy leads
- Amplify the voice of the VCSE sector and people with lived experience to inform national policy
- Facilitate co-produced solutions to promote equality and reduce health inequalities
The HW Alliance is jointly managed by the Department of Health, Public Health England and NHS England and is made up of 21 VCSE members that represent communities who share protected characteristics or experience significant health inequalities. The 21 members have been selected for their demonstrable reach into a wide range of communities and their ability to represent the collective views of the VCSE sector.
