What is a Get Set! course at Nacro Bolton Education Centre?

Our Get Set! courses accelerate a student’s learning and enable you to identify and make progress towards your aspirations. We combine vocational learning with essential English and mathematics qualifications, enriching experiences, and workplace encounters to equip you for career success.

At Nacro Education Bolton, our courses are crafted to enable students to:

• Gain industry-specific skills through hands on vocational courses in areas like construction, healthcare, animal care, sport and more.
• Improve English, maths* and digital literacy to strengthen a student’s foundations for work and life.
• Participate in a range of work experience and employment related encounters to gain insights into the industries and careers paths that are of interest to them.
• Develop a full range of essential skills supported by our Skills Builder partnership including communication, problem solving, teamworking, interview practice and CV writing.
• Participate in a range of activities, opportunities, team collaboration challenges and educational site visits that enable personal development through real experiences.
• Learn financial and human skills through our partnerships with MyBank and our localised tutorial programme.

*GCSE/Functional Skills English and maths are only required if you haven’t already gained a grade 4 or above.

Working closely with the Bolton community

We work within our community, establishing partnerships and helping bring the local area closer together.

Because of our partnerships, every learner has the chance to take part in valuable work experience and engage with a number of localised businesses including British Heart Foundation and Barclays Bank for work placements.

This year, we have a number of enrichment activities available for students including visits to: National Justice Museum North, Crystal Maze, The Cube, Professional beauty northwest show, and Salon international.

Shining a light on our courses

At Nacro Education Bolton, we offer additional courses to all of our students, giving multiple opportunities to expand their CVs. This includes opportunities such as first aid training, safe driving courses and food hygiene.

All of our hairdressing students receive a full bag of hairdressing equipment upon enrolment. We also do a monthly walking group that is offered to all learners for a wellbeing and mind reset break.
