The formation of the 2016 government
Jacob Tas, Chief Executive of Nacro, said:
“As Ministers enter their new government departments, we wish them well. It will be a challenging time for any Minister operating across Health, Justice, Education and Housing. Some immediate decisions will be made that impact Nacro, our service users and the communities we work in. These include: the future of supported housing; funding for local authority services; and an education system that addresses a growing skills gap and the need to recognise the potential of all young people, whatever their ability or background.
“However, there have been positive moves in policy since 2015. The prison reform agenda, the Charlie Taylor and Sally Coates reviews, and a wider appreciation of the need to see the potential and aspirations of all those accessing employment should continue. It has been a momentous year. We thank those Ministers moving on for the strides they made in changing the debate in vital policy areas and look forward to working with all those entering the new Government.”
