Nacro Education Spalding celebrated the opening of their new centre this week, supported by referral agencies, Nacro’s leadership team, and actor Warwick Davis who has a local connection to the area. There was a preview event on Wednesday before the official opening on Thursday. Davis attended the preview event with his wife Samantha to support Nacro Education Spalding, and was incredibly supportive of the centre’s hard work.

“I’ve enjoyed being here and I don’t think people realise that places like this exist,” said Davis during a question and answer period with learners and staff. Davis gave an inspiring talk to learners about the importance of hard work and perseverance. This was followed by a Q&A period, and the day ended with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Both Warwick and Samantha promised to support Nacro Education Spalding in their efforts to engage the community and encourage recruitment.

“I particularly wanted to come here because I think the centre is really inspiring and doing great things for young people,” said Davis.

Yesterday’s official opening had a successful turnout. Nacro CEO Jacob Tas and Director of Education Lisa Capper attended and spoke at the event, encouraging young people in the area to consider attending Nacro as an alternative to mainstream education.

Nacro Education Spalding provides an alternative to college for 16-18 year olds. Nacro students may have struggled at school or attended alternative provision, and some of our students may have had disruption to their studies due to personal issues. Nacro Education Spalding provides a highly supportive educational environment to build confidence in a small group setting.  Our staff are specialist in supporting the development of personal and social skills, and 80% of our students go on to college, work, or an apprenticeship.

Nacro recruits all year, so we can ensure that learners enroll in a programme and work towards qualifications at any point in the year.  Nacro Education Spalding is currently recruiting so any young people who are not in employment, education or training can come in for an interview to see if there is a programme that will help them achieve their next steps.
