Longton learners raise funds and get work experience on market stall

Last month – and before the national lockdown – learners and staff at our Longton Education & Skills Centre held a stall at a local market, providing learners with vital work experience and raising money to put towards an activity or event for them in 2021.

In the lead up to the stall, learners pitched in to prepare… it was a real team effort! Construction students made crates to display stock and helped to put the market stalls up; catering students made chutneys and other products to sell; retail students designed the labels, price list and served customers on the stall.

It was a very successful event with most of the stock selling on the day and a small amount of profit being made. Proceeds will go towards holding an event or an activity for the Longton students in 2021 and plans are already in place to undertake similar initiatives throughout this year (depending on COVID-19 restrictions).
