“It was an amazing day and great to see so many of our Education and Skills Centre staff, along with many of our corporate support colleagues in one place and especially given the challenges of the past couple of years. It was incredibly moving to see people meeting one another in person for the first time or reconnecting face to face after a lengthy period of remote contact only.

It was fantastic to be able to have a day away as we approach the end of the academic year, to showcase the work happening around the centres, to enable people to network and discuss ideas and build the foundations for increased collaboration across our teams going forwards. But mainly it provided the opportunity for us to say thank you to all our fantastic Education Team and partners across the organisation, for everyone’s hard work and continued dedication, particularly during the challenging past couple of years.

I am really looking forward to us being able to hold similar events in the future. A huge thank you to Gareth Jones and Simon Ashton who led on the event and brought everyone together in what was a wonderful day.” – Clare Kirk | Vice Principal and Safeguarding Lead for Education

Safeguarding awards

On the day Excellence in Safeguarding awards were presented to several centres following audits carried out by Incyte International in Sept and October 2021. Centres that received accolades were:

  • Middlesbrough – Platinum
  • Totton College – Platinum
  • Newcastle – Platinum
  • Peterborough – Gold

Well done again to these centres for their achievements!

As ever we are always delighted to work with Nacro as an organisation and also with all of the staff who work so professionally and with dedication, to ensure that the young learners they work with day in day out, are in a safe environment” – Caroline McKee | Director Incyte International Ltd

“It was a great day, and we were delighted to get staff from all of our Education Centres and support teams into the same room for the first time ever.

It has been a difficult couple of years with the impact of Covid-19 on our Centre’s, so it was nice to bring everyone together to thank them for all their hard work during a challenging period but also to enable everyone to come together to look ahead positively towards the opportunities coming up in the new academic year. It was great to see staff talking, building relationships, and discussing their roles and practice during the day and we hope that this is just the start of our Centre’s working more closely together to help build on the consistency, collaboration, and identity across our Education Centres.

We have also had some really nice comments from colleagues and Centre staff since the event which has been great to hear how much they enjoyed the day and the communication they have already made this week with others following the event.” – Simon Ashton | Assistant Principal

“The day was a great chance for all colleagues within Nacro Education to meet each other, share ideas and build a closer working team. The day was started off with a number of presentations from different centres, sharing the unique things they have achieved in the recent year. This was followed by a presentation from Helen Berresford on the new Nacro strategy. Staff were given the chance to discuss and give feedback on the strategy and new branding. After lunch there was an award presentation for centres that had been awarded Platinum for their Incyte International presentation. We were then seated in tables based on subjects taught, this gave tutors a chance to share techniques and ideas, finally there was a raffle drawn by the partners of the event, Dovetail & Slate, followed by a chance for everyone to chat before heading home.” – Jack Jordan | Marketing Manager

“It was wonderful to be back to seeing everyone in person again. The presentations from the centres on the enrichment activities were so very inspiring, resulting in conversations with people buzzing with ideas to replicate.” – Rose Evans | Community Engagement Officer

“I was really inspired not only to hear about the incredible work colleagues have been doing over recent years to support learners, but also the level of energy and interaction with our new strategy and commitment to continuing to make a real difference. What a fantastic day!” – Helen Berresford | Director of External Engagement
