In response to today’s Spending Review announcement, Campbell Robb, Nacro Chief Executive, commented:
“Almost half of people released from prison reoffend within a year. Today’s announcement of funding for an additional 18,000 prison places will do nothing to tackle the scourge of reoffending, which is why we are calling on the Government, in the coming weeks, to set out a comprehensive plan for reducing reoffending, including a guarantee of new funding so that prison leavers aren’t released homeless.”
UPDATE: Pleased to say that buried in the detail of today’s Spending Review statement document there’s confirmation of new funding for prison leavers at risk of homelessness. No figures/other detail so we look forward to hearing more. Let’s end the cycle of #CellStreetRepeat.
