Nacro are a national social justice charity with more than 50 years’ experience of changing lives. Our impressive range of services across England and Wales cover education, housing, support and wellbeing, substance misuse treatment and the prevention of reoffending. We advise and we speak out for and with disadvantaged young people and adults. We never give up.
Would you like to support an outstanding team of professionals who make a positive impact on society by offering a range of unique and personalised life-changing interventions on the lives of vulnerable women in the Tees Valley area?
The SWITCH project assists vulnerable women aged 16 and older who face a range of health, social, financial, educational or housing needs with comprehensive, packages of support to enable them to regain positive control of their lives. Our Mentor programme provides a relaxed way in which individuals from all walks of life can access help and support regarding any issues they are facing. It is not as formal as counselling; the service actively involves the individual dealing with their own issues.
We are seeking inspirational mentors to provide our service users with the advice and support they need to build a more positive future. Ways you will be supporting include; providing a thorough initial assessment to set personal targets, identifying areas of difficulty and agreeing key milestones, helping access to education, work experience or employment opportunities, finding voluntary work or other hands-on experience as a stepping stone to getting a job, putting together a CV and preparing for job interviews, registering with other services if required, e.g. family intervention or substance misuse services, improving relationships and behaviour, accompanying to various appointments e.g. housing or agency in support, helping to create letters or make phone calls, group activities and outings with their children.
The volunteering experience provided by Nacro will assist you in gaining the following skills:

Training will be provided by the organisation for this position:
