Course overview

This course will give you the opportunity to progress into the engineering and construction industry. You will be treated as an industry professional from the start, taking control of your projects – drawing up plans and making models of buildings. You will visit construction sites to see how plans are put into action. Our expert tutors will help to give you a firm foundation to build your career onto.

What will I learn?

You will learn the theory in our Newcastle centre alongside some practical sessions and on the job training. You will be in control of your projects and will draw up plans and models for buildings using industry guidance.

This is all supported by teaching from experts and visits to in-progress build sites to see how the plans you make are put into action, before replicating the work back in centre using new found knowledge of project scaling. During the course, every student will work with CPJ to fill an entry level role within the construction industry, which suits their strengths and interests, with a clear plan for progression.

Modules

• Defining a sustainable construction project
• Roles in construction project teams
• Producing a technical Design and sharing information
• Planning permission, costing and presenting a sustainable building project

Assessment

You will be required to complete a range of written assignments. You will also be required to demonstrate some skills whilst being observed by your tutor.

Work experience

You will do at least two weeks of work experience to support your studies, gain experience and you will get an interview for a job on completion. Our team will help you secure a work placement and will provide you with everything required for you to attend your placement.

Career and progression

During the course, every student will work with our partners at CPJ group to fill an entry level role within the construction industry, which suits their strengths and interests. On successful completion of the course and work placement there is an opportunity to progress into employment.
