For many people, the experience of going into prison is traumatic and disruptive, and can come on top of an existing mental health condition.
It is not right for people that may have made a mistake during their youth to be penalised for forever.
Nacro Chief Executive, Campbell Robb, said: “Giving governors the freedom to increase time for inmates to take part in education and work programmes, as well as recreational activities, is a vital step in the right direction…”
