Course overview

If you are undecided on your future or we don’t offer the course that meets your career goals, then our work ready courses will offer you real life experience in a setting of your choice. While at the same time allowing you to upskill and work towards qualifications that will support your future career requirements.

What will I learn?

This course helps to develop practical skills in a workplace setting by completing tasks for the local council.
The programme offers an opportunity for young people to raise their aspirations, improve confidence and motivation, whilst learning skills that are relevant to further study, employment and personal development.

Modules

Some of the modules you will study are:

• Preparation for work
• Job seeking skills
• Skills for independent life
• Building a personal career portfolio
• Recognising volunteering opportunities

Assessment

You will be required to complete a range of written assignments and build portfolios. You will also be required to demonstrate some skills whilst being observed by your tutor.

Work experience

You will do practical work experience every week in the community by completing tasks as part of our countryside renovations for the local council.

Enrichment opportunities

There are a variety of enrichment opportunities on offer throughout the year, including trips and external visits.

Career and progression

This course would give you the opportunity to progress to other courses or progression into employment.

*GCSE/Functional Skills English and maths are only required if you haven’t already gained a level 4 or above.
