Course overview

This course will give you the opportunity to progress into the engineering industry. You will be treated as an industry professional from the start; taking control of your projects; drawing up plans and turning these plans into finished projects.

You will visit various local engineering businesses to put theory into practice. Our expert tutors will help to give you a firm foundation to build your career onto.

What will I learn?

You will learn a broad range of competencies and skills which will help you progress in the Engineering industry. The course will be delivered with a large amount of practical lessons in our workshops.

Modules

There are a range of units which include:

• Working safely in an engineering environment
• Carrying out engineering activities efficiently and effectively
• Using and communicating technical information
• Assembling mechanical components

Assessment

You will be required to complete a range of written assignments and exams. You will also be required to demonstrate some skills whilst being observed by your tutor.

Work experience

You will do at least two weeks of work experience to support your studies, gain experience and potentially develop contacts with future employers. Our team will help you secure a work placement and will provide you with everything required for you to attend your placement.

There are a variety of enrichment opportunities on offer throughout the year, including trips and external visits.

Career and progression

Completion of this course will enable you to progress onto a Level 2 Engineering course or an Apprenticeship.
