Course overview

If you like the sound of working in a hair salon or beauty spa, why not try one of our hair and beauty courses? At Nacro Education, learning is done in small, practical groups and informal workshops that feel just like the real thing. So, you will get plenty of salon-style experience.

What will I learn?

Designed to build on your interest and passion for the hair and beauty industry, an introduction to the hair and beauty sector is an ideal, practical course which helps you learn about the industry including hair styling, washing, cutting and more.

Modules

There are a range of units which include:

• An introduction to the hair and beauty sector
• Presenting a professional image in a salon
• Shampoo & conditioning
• Women’s styling
• Creating a hair and beauty image

Assessment

You will be required to complete a range of written assignments. You will also be required to demonstrate some skills using a model whilst being observed by your tutor.

Work experience

You will do at least two weeks of work experience to support your studies, gain experience and potentially develop contacts with future employers. Our team will help you secure a work placement and will provide you with everything required for you to attend your placement.

There are a variety of enrichment opportunities on offer throughout the year, including trips and external visits.

Career and progression

Progression to Level 2 Hair and Beauty courses or an apprenticeship.

*GCSE/Functional Skills English and maths are only required if you haven’t already gained a level 4 or above.
