Course overview

If you are thinking about a job in retail, this course will help you get there. You will learn all about selling skills, customer service, working in a team and supervising & managing other staff.

At the end of the course, you’ll have the hands-on experience and confidence you need to take your next step.

What will I learn?

You will gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required to work in the retail or customer service industry. You will learn about a range of topics such as the control, handling and replenishment of stock, the retail selling process, customer service skills and visual merchandising.

Modules

There are a range of modules available for either the Award or Certificate. These include:

• Understanding customer service
• Understanding the retail selling process
• Understanding how a retail business maintains health and safety of its premises
• Understanding handling of customer payments
• Understanding the control, receipt and storage of stock
• Understanding visual merchandising

Assessment

You will be assessed through a combination of coursework and multiple-choice examinations.

Work experience

You will have the chance to do at least two weeks of relevant work experience to support your studies, gain experience and potentially develop contacts with future employers. Our team will help you secure a work placement and will provide you with everything required for you to attend your placement.

There are a variety of enrichment opportunities on offer throughout the year, including trips and external visits.
