As told by Adam Sausby-Gallimore, functional skills trainer, Nacro Boston.

Stephen joined a Nacro education course in June 2013 after not being in education, training or employment for the previous six months. Stephen came to Nacro wanting to improve his English and maths qualifications and other skills to help him gain employment so he could support his two-year old son.

Nacro also helped him into a work experience placement as a way of providing him with a reference for a future employer as well as adding some valuable experience to his CV. Stephen began his work placement in December 2013 at the log centre in Boston which is a wood processing firm that produces dried kiln logs.

Stephen is really enjoying his placement and his placement supervisor says he has become a valuable member of their team. Alongside Stephen’s placement, he has also been working on his vocational certificate and has managed to pass level 2 functional skills in English and maths.
