As told by David Hill, Literacy Tutor

Alex completed her Motor Vehicle Studies course with us and was also studying GCSEs with the hope of improving her English grade to a C or above.

Despite a few bumps in the road and some pretty daunting personal challenges Alex did exactly that. In addition she also gained a GCSE grade D in Maths.

I will never forget her reaction when she opened the infamous brown envelope on results day… she was so happy that the veneer of toughness slipped and she became red faced and teary and had to sit down. I was the one in the classroom teaching Alex but this outcome was the result of a huge effort by the whole team at Leeds helping her cope and stay on track. Of course the most credit goes to Alex herself for working so hard and achieving such a fantastic result.

We recently received confirmation that Alex had achieved her long-held ambition of being offered a place on a Level 3 Public Services course at Leeds City College. The entry criteria for this course includes English at grade C or above.

All the team here wish her continued success in the future.
