Jimmy, who came to us through Nacro’s centre in Brighton, has flourished since he started volunteering at Fabrica. When he first started he was shy but by working closely with Karen at Nacro we were able to arrange a suitable timetable and support for him. We also arranged for him to work with Stacey, one of our volunteer co-ordinators, so he was not left on his own.

Jimmy was initially unsure about talking to visitors but in a matter of weeks, he was handing out brochures and directing the general public into the exhibition as well as communicating well with the other volunteers. In January 2013, he worked with the venue hire manager, the office manager and Stacey to help with the clear-up of the balcony and with organising our storage area and archives.

Jimmy is a pleasure to have at Fabrica and we are more than happy to keep working closely with Nacro as we feel we have the support from them to enable us to support Jimmy.
