Helping young people into work

Having a job is an important part of belonging to and contributing to the life of a community but many young people finish school without the right skills to find and hold down a job.

Nacro runs pre-vocational and vocational training courses for 16 to 18 year olds, helping them develop skills and gain nationally recognised qualifications to improve their chances of getting a job. We specialise in working with young people who need extra support to take up and complete a training course.

We develop and run training courses in a range of vocational areas and most courses include a mixture of in-house training and work experience placements with local employers. Training can also include help with key skills, such as literacy, numeracy and communication, depending on individual needs.

Nacro in Action

The Learning Gateway in Nottingham

In partnership with Nottingham City Council, Nacro is a Learning Gateway provider in Nottingham. The Learning Gateway is a national initiative that works with young people aged 16 to 17 who are not involved in training, education or employment.

The Nacro-run 26-week course aims to raise young people's confidence and get them ready for work or further education through training in IT, numeracy and literacy, outdoor activities and work on issues such as offending behaviour and race awareness.
