About the service
Nacro Sheffield Vocational Skills Programme helps young people who have disengaged with school to return to learning or move on to work. The service is designed to offer alternatives to mainstream education, by running flexible programmes that provide the most appropriate package for each individual. We provide:
- imaginative activities designed to inspire and excite participants through formal and informal learning, the main focus of the programme as agreed by Sheffield City Council is vocational - Catering, IT, Print and Graphics, Sport and Leisure and Motor Vehicle Maintenance.
- work and assessment processes based on practical and emotional skills
- the option to return to mainstream learning or to move on to other learning opportunities such as e2e
All participants have the opportunity to achieve vocational, basic skills, key skills and personal development qualifications and certification.
What will I get out of it?
Young people will gain many practical skills and develop personal and social skills such as:
* Self-confidence
* Team working
* Communication
* Health/fitness
* Understanding and contributing to their community
In addition to achieving a wide range of qualifications participants will also be able to progress into employment or futher training/education, further training/education may be with nacro in Sheffield or with a range of partner organisations in Sheffield, as detailed below:
Motor Vehicle Maintenance:
Training on a placement, learners will gain an in-depth knowledge of Health & Safety, customer care, fault diagnostics, vehicle servicing and repairs.
Catering:
Training on placement, gaining catering qualifications. Preparing you for further education or employment within the catering industry.
IT:
Training on placement to help you gain knowledge of administration preparing you more for employment.
Print and Graphics:
Training in-house or on placement, covering skills such as, digital photography, printing, desktop publishing, image manipulation and finishing.
