About the service

Nacro Meanwood Training Centre helps young people who are not in education or work to learn new skills and get qualifications.

The service is designed to prepare young people to move on into further education, apprenticeships or work, by offering them training and qualifications in areas including mechanics, Army preparation, English, maths and IT, and personal and social development.

We provide:

  • clear information and guidance on job and training options
  • support to help overcome barriers that are stopping people from working or training
  • support to improve employability skills, including with gaining qualifications in Functional Skills (English, Maths and ICT), Personal and Social Development as well as subject specific and health and safety training and certification.
  • help finding opportunities including work placements and college courses
  • access to the Education Maintenance Allowance
  • an Army Preparation Course

What will I get out of it?

  • the chance to learn motor vehicle skills with industry standard equipment and tools
  • the opportunity for a work placement
  • increased confidence and skills
