About the service
Nacro Newcastle Foundation Learning Programme is for young people who want to develop new skills and progress into work, an apprenticeship or college. We’ll give you the confidence and the qualifications you need to achieve your potential and get ahead.
What will I get out of it?
We’ll help you work towards accredited qualifications and find work experience placements in areas of work which interest you. You’ll get full support and guidance from our trainers every step of the way. We can offer you qualifications in:
- mechanics
- childcare
- functional skills, eg, in English, maths and ICT
- health and safety
You’ll develop new skills, including:
- interview skills
- reading and writing skills
- communication skills
- how to write a CV
- how to search for a job
These skills and qualifications will help improve your chances of finding and keeping work.
What else?
- Up to £30 a week through EMA.
- Help with travel expenses.
- The chance to take part in activities relating to job and college interviews, confidence building and independent living.

Type of service: Foundation training
Participants must be between: 16 and 18
The project is open to anyone:
- not in education
- available for 16 hours a week
- committed to getting a job, apprenticeship or going to college
