About the service
Nacro Gateshead Football Project provides young people with positive sporting activities in order to develop their self-esteem, help them to discover new interests and skills and increase their awareness of the health benefits of sport and physical activity. In particular, it helps disaffected young people find alternatives to offending and antisocial behaviour.
We provide:
- structured sporting activities
- advice and guidance on social issues
- access to outside agencies and a referral process to create links regarding specialist support
- informal education on sexual health, diet, nutrition, drug and alcohol abuse, employability skills and general well-being
- training on health, anger management and the consequences of offending
- one-to-one support and individually tailored work
- opportunities for volunteering in the community, with access to the football coaching FA Level One award
