About the service
We help marginalised young people to find constructive activities and develop their skills, through volunteering in its projects. The service is designed to boost the skills and confidence of young people, who might otherwise be getting into trouble, by matching them to placements and supporting them through the experience. We provide:
- a wide variety of volunteer roles, from football coaching to providing one-to-one support to learners
- support in thinking through the available options
- training and ongoing development opportunities
- advice in transferring from volunteering to paid work
The project also provides targeted volunteering opportunities for young people to gain specific skills and experiences through partnership working. The volunteer can become involved in projects that encourage the particiaption of children, young people and adults with disabilities for instance.
What will I get out of it?
By being involved in the project people gain a new skills set along with recognised qualifications. These, along with the experience gained from having volunteered within the various programmes, will give people greater self confidence and confidence in settings such as sports environments, working with adults, disabilities. The volunteers also make new friends, gain the satisfaction of giving something back to the community, are given the opportunity to volunter at local, regional and national one-off events and improve their CV through the experience and recognised qualifications that they gain.
The qulaifications that are available to the service users include:
- FA Coaching Levels 1 and 2
- Rugby Level 1 and 2
- First Aid and Emergency First Response
