About the service

Nacro Reading Angling Project helps young people at risk of offending or antisocial behaviour to find alternative ways of spending their time. The service is designed to reach young people who have been excluded from school, or who are living in areas with poor facilities.

We deliver activities that engage and inspire. We provide gateways into local clubs in order to progress young people to competition level angling or continued skill development.

We provide:

  • angling taster sessions
  • a focus on engaging young people while developing their personal skills, self esteem and community awareness
  • practical help with accessing further support and services
  • links with employment opportunities and education initiatives

What will I get out of it?

  • environmental awareness
  • confidence and self-belief
  • pride and respect for others
  • club membership and opportunities to take on responsible roles within the organisation
  • qualifications in coaching and mentorship
