About the service

Nacro Tamworth Foundation Learning Programme is for young people who want to develop new skills and progress into work, an apprenticeship or college. We’ll give you the confidence and the qualifications you need to achieve your potential and get ahead.

What will I get out of it?

We’ll help you gain accredited qualifications and provide you with the opportunity to develop food preparation and customer service skills in our on-site community café. You’ll get full support and guidance from our trainers every step of the way. We can offer you qualifications in:

  • food preparation
  • customer service
  • functional skills, eg, in English, maths and ICT
  • independent living
  • career preparation
  • employability skills
  • alcohol and drug awareness
  • health and safety

You’ll develop new skills, including:

  • interview skills
  • reading and writing skills
  • communication skills
  • teamwork skills
  • how to work well in a group

These skills and qualifications will help improve your chances of finding and keeping work.

Service information

Participants must be between: 16 and 18

The project is open to anyone:

  • not in education
  • available for 16 hours a week
  • committed to gaining qualifications, getting a job, apprenticeship or going to college

When can I apply?

Apply anytime either through Connexions or by self referral. Qualifications start on the first of every month but learners are welcome to attend taster days and keep in touch sessions to complete their paperwork prior to starting their course.
