About the service

Nacro Burton-on-Trent Foundation Learning Programme is for young people who want to develop new skills and progress into work, an apprenticeship or college. We’ll give you the confidence and qualifications you need to achieve your potential and kick start your future.

What will I get out of it?

We’ll help you work towards accredited qualifications and explore the career options available to you, as well as help you gain vocational skills. You’ll get full support and guidance from our key workers and tutors every step of the way. We can offer you qualifications in:

• functional skills, eg, in English, maths and ICT
• employability skills
• construction
• music production
• plumbing
• personal and social development
• health and safety
• customer service
• cooking skills

You’ll develop new skills, including:

• interview skills
• how to write a CV
• teamwork skills
• communication skills
• how to search for a job

These skills and qualifications will help improve your chances of finding and keeping work.

What else?

• The chance to make friends and build your confidence.
• Up to £30 a week through EMA.
• Help with travel expenses.
• The chance to take part in activities relating to sport, cooking, a
  healthy lifestyle and independent living.

Service information

Type of service: Pre-vocational training and work

Participants must be between: 16 and 18

The project is open to anyone:

• not in education, employment or training
• available for 16 hours a week
• committed to getting a job, apprenticeship or going to college
• willing to work towards a variety of qualifications
