About the service
Nacro Battersea Foundation Learning Programme is for young people who want to develop new skills and progress into work, an apprenticeship or college. We’ll give you the confidence and the qualifications you need to achieve your potential and get ahead.
We’ll help you work towards accredited qualifications and find work experience placements in areas of work which interest you. You’ll get full support and guidance from our trainers every step of the way. We can offer you qualifications in:
- functional skills, eg, in English, maths and ICT
- digital photography
- personal and social development
- health and safety
- art and design
You’ll develop confidence and new skills, including:
- interview skills
- reading and writing skills
- communication skills
- how to write a CV
- how to search for a job
These skills and qualifications will help improve your chances of finding and keeping work.
- Up to £30 a week through EMA.
- Help with your travel expenses.
- The chance to take part in activities relating to media, sport, fitness, confidence and independent living.
What will I get out of it?
- access to the EMA allowence
- if you've missed those crucial Level one or two qualifications in Numeracy, Literacy, ICT or Art, we will help you gain them through personalised learning timetables
- help with placements, applications and research.
- every learner gets a key-worker who will advise and help you with any difficulties or problems you're experiencing.
- we help you get used to the commitment involved in full-time education or employment.

Service information
Type of service: Foundation training
Participants must be between: 14 and 19
The project is open to anyone:
- not in education
- available for 12 hours a week
- committed to getting a job, apprenticeship or going to college
