About the service
Nacro Substance Misuse Intervention Link Service helps people with drug and alcohol problems to rebuild their lives. Our programme is designed to tackle the root causes of the problem by providing practical and emotional support and advice.
We provide:
- Support based on individual needs, including help with managing drug use and the skills needed to live independently
- a care plan tailored to the needs of each individual
- information on harm reduction for individuals continuing to use drugs
- practical support to access services such as housing and health care
- one-to-one support to tackle emotional difficulties likely to lead to risk-taking behaviour
- partnership working with drug and alcohol services.
What will I get out of it?
- your own key worker who will provide flexible help and support on a range of issues depending on your individual needs
- help with everday areas of concern, including; claiming benefits, parenting, child care and social services advice, budgeting, cooking, cleaning and looking after yourself, considering your education, training or employment options addressing problems related to drug or alcohol use, issues relating to offending behaviour, mental health or other personal problems, finding leisure activities, social inclusion and community involvement.

Application details
How do I apply?
- To access our satellite service there is NO application process and those in need of support can just attend the drop in service.
- Women in need of more intense support for a maximum of six months (for which places are limited) can make an application to us via a local agency (eg. local drug agency, probation service, social services or other relevant local agency). You must have been in contact with that agency for at least two months. The worker from your referring agency should telephone us, during office hours and speak to a senior project worker on duty.
- Unfortunately, we are not able to support everyone who applies, so people in the greatest need and who are able to make the best use of our services are given priority.
