About the service

Nacro Bolton OPPS 4 U Foundation Learning Programme helps year 10 and 11 students gain practical experience in vehicle maintenance, as well as construction skills and sports skills. It provides young people with the opportunity to work in small groups and to improve their personal, social and employability skills.

Young people on the project will work towards qualifications or credits towards qualifications in:

  • vehicle maintenance
  • sport
  • joinery

Our way of working

Each learner will attend an assessment/taster day to assess their skills. They will then be allocated a support worker who works with the young person to develop an action plan tailored to their specific needs. By working with young people individually or in small groups, our staff can pinpoint any obstacles and provide targeted help to meet the individual’s requirements and develop their confidence.

What will I get out of it?

The project offers help with personal and social development, improving communication skills and vocational development. It is designed to help participants work out their career aims, identify and overcome barriers to employment, gain accreditation and develop the necessary skills to progress into further education, training or employment.
