About the service

The Nacro Wessex ‘Getting Active’ Project works with 'hard to reach', disengaged youth through sport. We often start with young people who have been/are caught up in the criminal justice system. By using a variety of sports young people engage in a positive matter and away from offending behaviour. We also have the expertise to direct young people towards various services, education and training.

What will I get out of it?

  • Young people can gain voluntary work experience in various aspects of community project planning and delivery
  • Increase personal skills, self esteem as well as respect
  • Opportunities to enter regional and community tournaments
  • By volunteering they can go onto gain various coaching/leadership qualifications as well as mentoring awards.
