About the service

Nacro Clacton-on-sea Foundation Learning Programme is for young people who want to develop new skills and progress into work, an apprenticeship or college. We’ll give you the confidence and the qualifications you need to achieve your potential and get ahead.

What will I get out of it?

We’ll help you work towards accredited qualifications and find work experience placements in areas of work which interest you. You’ll get full support and guidance from our trainers every step of the way. We can offer you qualifications in:

  • Asdan Employability Skills – Level 1
  • Asdan Community Volunteering – Level 1
  • BSC Health & Safety - Level 1
  • Functional Skills , e.g. Literacy & Numeracy Entry level – Level 1&2

You’ll develop new skills, including:

  • interview skills
  • reading and writing skills
  • communication skills
  • how to write a CV
  • how to search for a job

These skills and qualifications will help improve your chances of finding and keeping work.

What else?

  • up to £30 a week means tested EMA
  • help with your travel expenses
  • the chance to take part in activities relating to sports, fitness and presentation, confidence and independent living
  • the chance to take part in a 12-week programme with the Army, during which you will take part in activities including: Command tasks, fitness and nutrition, field craft, laser weapons and a three day/two night residential exercise under canvas.

Type of service: Alternative education

Participants must be between: 16 and 18

The project is open to anyone:

  • not in education
  • available for 21 hours a week
  • committed to getting a job, apprenticeship or going to college

throughout the year

How long will it last?

24 weeks
The programme is delivered Monday–Wed, minimum of 18 hours a week. Additional one to one support is also provided for Literacy and Numeracy
