About the service

Nacro Dorset Alternative Curriculum Programme is for young people who want to develop new skills and progress into work, an apprenticeship or college after they leave school. We’ll give you the confidence and the qualifications you need to achieve your potential and get ahead.

What will I get out of it?

We’ll help you work towards accredited qualifications and support you to build your confidence in your chosen subject area. You will work with dedicated staff who will help you every step of the way. We can offer you qualifications in:

  • motor vehicle mechanics
  • business administration
  • sport
  • functional skills, eg, in English, maths and ICT
  • parenting skills
  • life skills and personal and social development
  • retail/customer services
  • health and safety

You’ll develop new skills, including:

  • reading and writing skills
  • communication skills
  • confidence building skills
  • teamwork skills

These skills and qualifications will help improve your chances of finding and keeping work.

Type of service: Foundation training

Participants must be between: 14 and 16

The project is open to young people:

  • with a keen interest in the subjects the course covers
  • committed to getting a job, apprenticeship or going to college after school
