About the service

Nacro SEEN (Supporting, Enabling, Empowering and Nurturing young people) project looks for young people classed as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) to become peer mentors, mentoring other young people as a volunteer. Young people will gain a nationally recognised ASDAN qualification and will organise and deliver weekly music, arts, sports and drama activities. They will also be trained in the role of youth forum/committee role responsibilities and will identify community needs as well as establishing community involvement projects.

What will I get out of it?

As peer mentors on the Nacro SEEN project young people will:

  • gain the ASDAN Peer Mentoring Short Course Award
  • have the opportunity to mentor other young people between the ages of 13-19
  • be able to participate in positive music, arts, sports and drama activities that draw young people away from crime and antisocial behaviour
  • take part in regular youth forums to identify key issues
  • carry out community projects to bring about a change for the better in their society

To begin with, young people may want to access our services as mentees and take part in activities with a view to possibly becoming peer mentors in the future
