1Xtra DJ to perform at Nacro teen club night

Award winning 1Xtra DJ Ronnie Herel is to perform at an under-18’s club night in Hertfordshire this Saturday.

The event is being organised by Nacro, and is aimed at reaching out to young people and reducing anti-social behaviour.

As well as live acts, the free open-air evening at Cheshunt Park will feature a street dance-off competition.

Young people are also being invited to showcase their own DJ and MCing skills for the crowds on the night.

The event is part of ongoing work being done by Nacro in Hertfordshire to tackle youth crime and anti-social behaviour, and is funded by Herts Sports Partnership and Youth Opportunity Fund.

Nacro Project Manager, Alex Hepton is organising the event. He says: “Nacro is always finding new and innovative ways to connect with young people and get them involved in positive activities.

“We held a similar event last year and over 900 young people showed up. That evening, the police didn’t receive a single report of anti-social behaviour in the area. In the future, I’d really like to find the funding to turn this into a monthly event.”

Ronnie says: “I played at the event last year and the atmosphere was amazing. I was really impressed by the young MC’s and DJ’s, they were all coming up on stage and really getting involved.

"I think music is a great way of bringing people together. A lot of young people have so much spirit and energy, music gives them a positive outlet for that.”
