Working with Greater Manchester Police

Leon Jacobs, Chief Inspector, Greater Manchester Police, on partnering with Nacro

‘We are dealing with low level antisocial behaviour but if we don’t get it right, it will lead on to other offences. Challenge and Support is not a sticky plaster solution to antisocial behaviour, it’s proper problem solving. We help ensure these young people have a chance.

‘Nacro’s role in the community is vital. They make sure we’re all talking to each other and playing our part. They take part in monthly meetings with the police and council and their workers are important role models for these young people and their siblings too. The system could not run without Nacro.

‘Most importantly, we know this holistic approach works; our data shows that since it began, the project has reduced antisocial behaviour in North Manchester by 18%.’
