This national service advises prisoners, offenders, ex-offenders, their family and friends, and all those who work with them.
We provide advice, information, training and informal workshops on:
- the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and ‘spent’ periods
- applying for jobs with a criminal record
- Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks and disclosures
- vetting and barring procedures
- unfair treatment due to having a criminal record
- other areas that may be affected by a criminal record, including buying insurance, foreign travel, licence conditions, benefits, debt and sex offender notification
- managing your affairs if you are sent to prison
- preparing for release from prison
- accessing services such as drug treatment
- accessing training or education
- finding somewhere to live
We provide an advocacy service for:
- offenders and ex-offenders who have been treated unfairly and discriminated against because of a criminal record
- offenders and ex-offenders who have been recently barred or think they may be barred from working with children and/or vulnerable adults.
