Youth crime

Tackling youth crime is a major priority for national and local government and for local communities. In recent years we have seen far-reaching changes to the youth justice system and new preventive measures aiming to help young people find positive alternatives to offending.

Nacro's Youth Crime Section has a long track record of providing expert and independent services to improve how criminal justice and related organisations deal with youth crime and young offenders.

Our Youth Offending Unit in Wales is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government to provide support to all youth offending services across the country.

We provide:

  • planning, policy development and inter-agency working
  • project development and management
  • research, monitoring and evaluation
  • reviews and audits
  • training programmes
  • conferences
  • briefings, good practice guides and other publications
