Parenting Orders

Nacro broadly welcomes support packages for parents but they should not be treated as a quick fix solution on their own.

If we are to reduce the risk of children falling into crime, resources for practical schemes to support parents - such as the family support projects voluntary organisations like Nacro run - need to be increased.
These projects act as a positive intervention for families who are experiencing difficulties with children who we already work with and know to be at risk. Good local inter-agency working means that the needs of families are identified and addressed at an early stage and follow up support is maintained if the family’s circumstances change. This co-ordinated specialist approach greatly reduces the risk of further problems as it addresses the support needs of both the child and family.
